This is a once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience. Afterwards, visit the picturesque waterfalls Hraunfossar & Barnafoss (10‑min walking trail). Hraunfossar is a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming over 900 metres out of the Hallmundarhraun lava field. Later, visit Vatnshellir Lava Cave (about 900 metres long, 150‑metre walk). The cave is pitch black without light; you will get a helmet and headlight to see magnificent lava formations: stalactites, drip stalagmites, and an underground adventure.
